Geneva – Wolfgang Schubert has been named Managing Director Cadillac Europe, effective March 1, 2010. In this role, he will be responsible for the import, distribution and marketing of the Cadillac models in Europe. Previously, he has been Brand Leader for Cadillac, Corvette and HUMMER for General Motors Europe since 2006. He also led the European transition team supervising the Cadillac business after the insolvency of the private importer in early 2009.

Schubert was born in Naumburg, Germany, on January 25, 1954. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Mannheim University. Wolfgang A. Schubert joined General Motors in 1989 and worked in various senior sales and marketing communication roles in different European countries.

As communicated on February 22, a newly created GM organization, Cadillac Europe, will be established to manage import, distribution and marketing of a selected range of Cadillac models specified for the European markets. The vehicles will be retailed through a fully authorized Cadillac sales and service network in key European markets. Wolfgang Schubert will lead a lean and efficient team to enable this new start for Cadillac in the European market.

Schubert: “Cadillac believes strongly that luxury markets will continue to grow outside the US – including Europe – and we intend to continue our participation in those luxury growth markets. Cadillac has been present in the European markets for over 50 years and is here to stay with a portfolio of attractive products appealing to customers who like distinctively styled exclusive high performance vehicles.”

At the Geneva Motor Show 2010, Cadillac presents the CTS Coupe for the first time in Europe.  Slated to arrive in North American Cadillac showrooms this summer and this fall in Europe, the CTS Coupe is a new luxury sports coupe designed to become the visual centerpiece of the brand’s revised lineup.

Other vehicles to be launched with model year 2011 in Europe are the new Cadillac SRX crossover, the CTS Sport Wagon, the high performance version of the new Coupe, the CTS-V Coupe and the Escalade Hybrid.  The CTS Sport Sedan and the 556-horsepower (415 kW) CTS-V are available now.

In addition, Cadillac is developing a sport sedan below the acclaimed CTS that will deliver on the price of entry in this highly competitive segment of the luxury market – driving dynamics. With high-tech engines, rear-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive, the new sedan will take on the best in the segment. Specific plans will be announced in due time.
