Detroit – The French-American Chamber of Commerce of Michigan awarded Cadillac with the “Company of the Year” title at their annual gala and award ceremony on Friday, May 7. The award is given on an annual basis to companies that have special merits with respect to the French-American relationship.
Don Butler, Vice President of Cadillac Marketing, said in presence of François Delattre; Ambassador of France to the United States, as well as Robert Hudson, President of the French-American Chamber of Commerce (FACC), and FACC Chairman Richard Lucki that Cadillac can look back on a long-lasting friendly relationship with France.
“It’s only fitting that Cadillac be part of this annual event. As most members of this group probably already know, our brand was named in honor of Antoine de Lamothe Cadillac. He was a French explorer who founded Fort Pontchartrain on Detroit, “the city of straits”, as he called it”, said Butler.
After a short recap of Cadillac’s history, Butler described the Cadillac renaissance in the 21st century and the global success of the brand which is selling its vehicles in 47 countries today. Cadillac has been on the French market since the 1920’s and is currently putting increased emphasis on the markets in Europe.
